Secrets of Internet Marketing
Understand the Market (Internet Community)
The Internet is a new marketing medium and must be used effectively. It is
imperative for the merchant to understand that commerce only occurs when promotions is
combined with shopping patterns on the Internet. Currently about 8 out of every 10
individuals search for information about products and services using "keywords"
or "search words".
Identify a Market (For the Product)
You must attempt to determine who the potential buyers for that product or service, or
business, prior to marketing are. What are their interests? How old are they? Are they men
or women? The more you understand about them, the better ad you will write. It
is far more important "What you say than what you sell!"
Guidelines for Finding Products for the
Internet
Survey Special Interests (Using Search Features of
the Internet):
Using your keywords or search words, search on the WWW using search engines like Yahoo,
Excite, or Lycos. Locate those electronic stores that offer similar products
to yours. Go to those stores and actually see what the competitors are doing.
Use
Usenet and search for those News Groups that have an interest in your particular
product. See what these people are doing. Subscribe to e-zines and e-mail
lists
which you might want to use to market individual products and services.
Establish a Repeat Purchasing Pattern:
Repeat purchasing programs generate long term income. Two ways to set-up such
programs are to sell products which are known as either "Growth Products" or
"Back End Products". When you deliver any product, include an offer to
purchase
another product. It can be a similar type product or even something entirely
unrelated.
Test! Test! Test!
The most common mistake made by Internet Merchants is in drafting an ad that doesn't work
or produce customers and sales. Because of the immediate type response of the Internet,
you can re-write an ad and put it back on the Internet almost immediately.
Successful Ideas Now Selling on the
Internet:
Products Suitable for Shipping By Mail:
One of the most successful methods of dealing with the procurement of products is through
that process known as "drop shipping". Drop shipping means that the
manufacturer of a product is willing to ship a product on your behalf to the final
purchaser of a product. The shipping cost is generally a little bit higher, but you
avoid the inventory cost normally associated with purchasing products for resale.
Services That Can Be fulfilled Long Distance:
If you don't have to be "face-to-face" with the customer, you can provide the
service on the Internet. For services where you are only providing the service in a
specific geographic area, you must include references to that geographic area in your
keywords. If you sell an editing service in the San Francisco Bay area, include
"San Francisco Bay" as a keyword, along with California. These same
keywords should later be included in your "title".
Informational Based Products
In order to use all the marketing resources available on the Internet, it is strongly
urged to find in formation that can be downloaded in a "text only" format.
This allows the maximum market penetration using e-mail marketing downloading
techniques. Existing books and manuals have been found to sell extremely well on the
Internet. In many cases you might also be able to get the rights to publish an
"online" edition that is downloaded from the Internet.
Information is the Key to Success
The Internet is based upon the principle of
millions of people searching for FREE Information. Your site should be at least 80%
information. Provide information that is valuable to the Internet user, and keep it
fresh, and you will be well on your way.
Two Step Marketing:
Two step marketing is based upon the premise of first finding a prospective buyer, and
then taking the second step and actually making the sale. Because the Internet is
based upon the search for information, why not give away some
FREE information and get the potential customer, AND THEN MAKE THE SALE.
Multi-Step Marketing Plan:
One way to provide "FREE" information is to offer a free report, a free
techniques, etc., and then to provide this information via a pre-programmed
"autoresponder." Now you can collect the E-mail address for
future follow-ups. The person requesting the information receives it
right away.
